Two projects worth Rs. 3.25 billion approved by CDWP

Islamabad: According to a recent news source, the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) on Monday had approved two projects worth Rs. 3.25 million and agreed on the clearance proposal worth Rs. 808 million under the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The summit was held with Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan, the Deputy Chairman Planning Commissioner as the chair.

According to details revealed, the CDWP has approved one of the projects related to water resources, named as “Construction of Small Storage/Delay Action Dam” in District Khuzdar, Balochistan with a cost of Rs. 3.05 billion.

The project aims to safeguard the storage of floodwater, protection of agriculture lands located at the downstream of the proposed dams, provide safety against flood damages, and will improve the socio-economic conditions of the people in the area. The construction of 10 small dams at different locations in District Khuzdar, Balochistan will be constructed.

The second project approved by the CDWP is related to devolution and area development named “Tor Ghar Integrated Development Project” which is worth Rs. 202.80 million.

The project objectives are to make the area available for the local administration by providing better infrastructure facilities and alternate sources of income through good agriculture practices and natural resources management, which will improve living standards of the people and also create an environment helpful for economic development.
