‘Slow enforcement’ of lockdown in WAPDA Town Lahore

Lahore: According to a recent news report, following a sudden rise in new cases of the coronavirus, the Punjab government ordered the sealing of WAPDA Town and some other areas of different localities in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Sialkot on Monday.

WAPDA Town, which has a large number of houses and businesses, has been registering new cases since the first Covid-19 outbreak in Punjab.

According to the regional health authorities’ latest guidelines, the number of new positive cases in the cramped housing society is on the increase as a result of major commercial operations and public movement.

To fight the virus, they suggested that the government fully seal WAPDA Town by deploying a huge number of police officers and limiting people’s travel and commercial activities.

Separate notices for the imposition of smart lockdown in a total of 34 areas/localities of the three cities were released on Monday by the main and secondary healthcare departments.

Later, the Punjab government ordered the police and the district administration to ensure that the Covid guidelines were strictly followed in the three cities’ smart lockdown zones.
