Punjab to develop 30 locations under ‘Tourism for Economic Growth’ initiative

Lahore: According to a recent news report, the Punjab Government has announced its decision to develop 30 new tourist destinations under its ‘Tourism for Economic Growth’, which will generate employment opportunities for as many as 20,000 individuals.

As many as eight Buddhist and Sikh holy sites will be rehabilitated as part of this scheme. In addition, the over 5,000-year-old heritage of Harappa and other historical sites along the Indus Valley strip, as well as Kotli Sattian, Narh, and other areas in Northern Punjab will be created.

There are also 12 to 14 religiously historical sites near Khushab, Jhelum, Chakwal, and the Mianwali salt range, according to reports. Under the Tourism for Economic Growth programme, the government plans to protect forts and other heritage sites dating back to ancient Hindu dynasties and open them to visitors.

Also, the government plans to expand Murree by expanding Kotli Sattia and Narh, reducing the tourist pressure on the region. Several services will be added to these locations as part of these projects to draw national and foreign visitors.
