Rawalpindi: According to a piece of recent news reported on the 22nd of January, Excise & Taxation Office will start to take steps for collection of property taxes in Rawalpindi after the authorities decided to step up the efforts for the collection that had been on pause due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now the excise offices will also begin imposing fines and 1% surcharge on the non-payment of property taxes.

According to the details declared in the news report, the excise officials had decided not to take rigorous steps for collection of property taxes to facilitate the public. However, now that the impact of COVID-19 is on the decline, the authorities have decided to begin taking positive steps for the collection of revenue.

The Excise and Taxation officer Aurangzeb Khan has imposed tax price on 500 defaulters who will also be issued notices, warning them of arrest in case of non-compliance. Furthermore, arrest warrants have also been issued for another 150 individuals.
