Swat: According to a recent news report, the Swat Deputy Commissioner stated on Thursday, that Rs. 5 billion has been allotted for the construction of the road linking the Kalam and Kumrat valleys.

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM) has also approved a hefty amount for the construction of the 113-kilometre road. This will help to bring in more local and foreign tourists to beautiful scenic valleys of Kalam and Kumrat.

Junaid Khan, who also has the additional charge of MD Tourism, stated that the Covid-19 outbreak has had a bad effect on the country’s tourism sector in the year 2020, adding that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa was the toughest hit province in this regard, as more than 70% of the country tourism was in this province.
“Thousands of people have lost their jobs and are facing financial hardships due to restrictions imposed to contain the spread of Covid-19,” he stated. “Hotels, motels, restaurants and rest houses were closed on March 18, 2020, which affected small businesses, daily wagers, transporters etc.”
