Mansehra: According to a recent news report, Section 4 has been levied by the district administration to purchase land for the Balakot Hydropower Project. The project would cost Rs. 85 billion and produce 300 megawatts of electricity.

The Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization is in charge of the Balakot hydropower plant. The administration has already completed the legal formalities to purchase over 1,700 Kanals of land for the scheme, according to Deputy Commissioner Dr. Qasim Ali Khan, and the remaining phase will be completed soon.

Khan also mentioned that the project would be constructed downstream of the 860-megawatt Suki Kinari Hydropower project, which is being built at Kunhar River in Kaghan valley as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) initiative.
The project site in Kaghan was also visited by a team from the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization.
