Board of Committee established to restore heritage sites on Burns Road, Karachi

Karachi: According to a news report published on January 12th, the Sindh Government has established a committee for the restoring of cultural heritage buildings on Burns Road, Karachi. These buildings were recently painted in a different color than the original which has caused an uproar in the public and social media.

The committee established will work on restoring the true colors of the buildings. Manzoor Ahmed Kanasro who is the Director-General (DG) of the Sindh Antiquities and Archeology Department will be the head of the committee.

The Sindh Government has also formed a 10-member board for the renovation and restoration of the famous Burns Road. The government has also decided on taking action to “pedestrianizing” the food street. On January 5th, a notice was issued that vehicles will not be allowed on the streets after 7 pm.

The visitors to the food street will be provided with proper valet parking. The government has also decided on marking both sides of the street to prevent restaurants from invading the roads by extending the seating arrangement.

All of these procedures will be made after 7 pm, and before that everything will proceed according to the normal routine.
