625 acres of state land retrieved after 65 years in Toba Tek Singh

Toba Tek Singh: According to a recent news report, a team of administration and police officials, led by Assistant Commissioner Rizwanul Haq Puri, retrieved 625 acres of state land from grabbers worth Rs. 2 billion at Chak 405-JB on Saturday.

The land was fraudulently declared in the name of Chaudhry Shabbir Ahmad’s family and others in 1956 under a government scheme, but several allottees turned out to be false. They remained tenants, however, due to court-ordered stop orders.

On Jan 4, police had retrieved 125 acres of land after Governor Chaudhry Sarwar had given the order to the district administration to go according to the decision of the revenue department during his visit to his hometown, Pir Mahal, in presence of all the elected representatives of the district. The rest of 625 acres were retrieved on Saturday.
